Wyandotte priest joins local high school team in blessing new rowing shells

In a simple ceremony in a sport steeped in tradition, the rowing team at Wyandotte Roosevelt High School enlisted the Rev. Andrea Morrow, priest-in-charge at St. Stephen’s Church, Wyandotte to bless the team’s new rowing shell. Morrow prayed for safe use of the shell and for the rowers who compete with it in a ceremony Sunday afternoon at the Wyandotte Boat Club.

Senior members of the team retrieved water from the Detroit River, which she used for blessing the shell. The team uses shells of various sizes to compete in competitions across the Midwest and Canada.

Morrow has been priest-in-charge at St. Stephen’s since last year.
